since polearms have always suffered the short end of the stick in terms of damage, and usefulness when doing many of the skills as a destroyer, ive gone and doubled the base damage of every polearm available.

to install, extract into your mods folder as every other mod. used with torched v 1.0.67.156, and torchlight 1.12

Nov 14, 09 edit: two new versions that include double damage on Polearms, Staffs, Bows, Crossbows, and Rifles. to be fair, it was actually only 70% damage increase and 30% better elemental attunement.

VERSION 1: this is the file that ONLY modifies the 2handers in the Tier3 items mod (used with permission)

VERSION 2: contains no tier 3 items, only low level gear.

it was done this way so that people could pick and choose which items they wanted in their game. i highly recommend running BOTH mods.

if you are running the tier3 items mod be sure this mod (version 1) has loading priority. to do this, you can manually open any .dat file in the mod, save it, close it, DELETE the corresponding .adm for the file you opened, and re-launch the game.

you may have to delete the mods.dat file as well, i am not sure.

as per request from some folks on other torchlight circles, tonight i will release a second version that will be compatible with the tier 3 "legendary" items mod, and backwards compatible for those who do not use said mod.

since this will be two additions / revisions of the same mod please be specific if you have problems or see balance issues.

will also include bows, rifles and staffs.

Thank you Zorf for understanding how weak the 2 handed weapons were and that some of the community prefer this weapon type. I appreciate the work you put into this without overbalancing it (70%) polearms were far to weak for how the default was and I only wish there were 2 handed swords and axes! thanks again Zorf

Pretty good idea, I too thought the 2 Handers were crippled.
But I think 100% is too much, would you consider creating a 60% version? (50% + 10%), That'd be more balanced imo.

what do you mean?

base damage +50%, elemental +10% ?

dude even with 70/30 its pretty rare to find a polearm (particularly) with good DPS. considering most of the destroyer skills are DPS based (not weapon damage based) you'd have an even harder time finding a polearm worth useing.

all you really need to do to MAKE a polearm (that would outdamage DualWield) is enchant it for some reasonably high attack speed (this will boost your DPS value incredibly).

i've been wondering about making a new mod however, to selectively add affixes for particular bonuses.

i'll let you know more when ive completed the first edition.

After playing a lil more (currently on Hard difficulty) I can see what you mean, 2 handers are way underpowered for some reason and it's pretty hard to find a decent one

Could you please tell my how to run these mods? Do I have to create a new character and start the game anew? Sorry for the lame question.
